Character Pictures: 

 The first picture is for diary entry 52. she had just found pictures of her mom cheating on her dad and now her family and life is going down hill. also she may not be able to have miss.G for her teacher next year. 

The next picture is for diary entry 50. She feels so bad because shes been lying and steeling from her love ones just so she can live her drug addiction to speed and Crystal meth. She is always out of it and was even high when their guest Zelta was visiting. 

 My last picture is for diary entry 33. she is in a court room because her friend shot someone but she will be lying to protect her "own." when she gets in the court room she makes no eye connection but to one person. the wife of the one convicted of murder. she knows how it feels to have your dad be taken away for something he did not do because that's what happened to her. so she tells the truth and gets her friend locked up because that was the truth. 

Select a Song: The song i selected was over my head by a day to remember(a cover from the original). i choose this song because its kinda like the other teacher knowing that miss.G is way over her head with her teaching and waiting for her to fail. shes just hanging on and making it work. the song is more about a relationship but in this case its the relationship between her and her students. the other teachers are jealous and and these lyrics "never thought you wanted to bring me down" would be going through miss.G head.

Theme Response: 
Acceptance: In sophomore year there was a lot of acceptance. there was on diary entry that i liked a lot, diary entry 51. the entry is about a girl who had been call fat for years but can do nothing about it. there was a basketball for Bosnia event where she had to play basketball in front of over 500 people. when she was out there everyone was cheering and routing her on. they were not judging her for her size, but were appreciated for what she was doing that day. 
Empowerment: in the whole chapter the class had power over everything. they were in control with rather they make all their guests stay nice or bad. miss.G gave the power to her students for once and everything worked out well. 
Check your thinking: Pick a Diary Entry and Put Yourself into it: i chose diary entry 47 to put myself into the situation. i would not change a thing if i were in her position. she said and thought the right things and i respect her for that.

The first picture is for diary entry number 2. He is the only white kid in his class and is hoping to get out.

 

For diary number 6 a white girl is going a sorority, but she is shy and is worried she wont get in and be cool. 

For Diary number 15, a black girl tells how she was bulled because of her size, when they do a peanut shell experiment she realizes its whats in the inside that matters not the outside shell.

I chose the song Changes by 2PAC. In the song it says people are fighting of their background and race. he says they have to make changes to make peace. i think this song relates to this part of the book because it involves a lot about different races fighting and people not getting along because of the past, but things need to change. here is the link to the song with lyrics.

Theme response:one of our themes Acceptance, is in this book a lot. in diary entry 18 the student is very upset about the peanut project their doing. with allowing that this is what they are doing the student remembers "its not the messenger, but the message"(pg38). putting her peanuts together she knows people don't care what on the outside of peanuts shells its whats in the inside that's good, and why people don't think that way about others? 

The other theme is Empowerment. in diary entry 14 it talks about two boys playing around with a gun and on shoots him self by accident. the other guys frame the boy who shot himself so it looks like a suicide. They bent the law so they would not be blamed. 

Acceptance and Empowerment happen in my life. i accept the fact of any things, and allow them to happen.

in diary entry 16 the girl talks about how she relates to Juliet in romeo and Juliet. i think i have some things in common with this student. she had ran away with her boyfriend, that her family did not like. her mom found out and punished her. i have similar qualities with this girl because i was sneaking around with a boy my mom did not care for and found out. i was grounded. i also read Romeo and Juliet and think i have things in common with her but would never go as far as death to be with the "love" of my life.
